Shirt tails and dog tails

I mentioned in passing that the first thing I can remember making just for myself was a toy dog. I was 7 or 8 at the time. The brilliant thing was that my Mum didn’t tell me boys shouldn’t sew or make soft toys. This would have been the very early 70’s and ideas about gender were very fixed. But that didn’t bother my Mum, she just wanted her children to be content. And probably quiet. Sewing kept me both so both of us were happy. I’m not sure I could recreate that dog, but this one has many of the same feelings in it.
