Shirts at the Shipley 1
Shirts at the Shipley on 16th February was great. First the thank-you's. To Ruth Sheldon of the Shipley Gallery for setting up the event, and being so supportive all day, to Joe Thwaite who helped me with the get in and out, and made tea and coffee all day for me and visitors. Thanks to everyone else who came along and talked to me, drew for me, sewed with me and generally made my day at the Shipley one to remember. I'll be back again on the 6th April, by which time the Shipley Shirt will be re-made. Right now it is still in pieces in my workroom. It keeps inspiring me with new ideas, so I don't want to start to sew until I am happy with what I want to re-make.
Latest news is that I have been invited to work alongside Lubaina Himid at the Harris (there's a page on the website (https://wwwquestforperfectshirt.com/shirts-at-the-harris) I am so excited to be working with Lubaina, and we will also be collaborating as part of the Great Exhibition of the North, when Lubaina's exhibition opens at BALTIC (from 12th May). Each Sunday from 22nd June throughout the Great Exhibition of the North, there will be some kind of event or happening. Ideas in the pipeline include a poetry take-over day, brass bands and community choirs.
The Beast from the East has meant that lots of meetings have been cancelled. Great for me, I decided that some of the shirts needed to go out into the world and into the snow..
